Charge , and properties of charge

CHARGE

      charge is fundamental property of any particles, we can say that , charge is physical property of matter . when it is placed in electromagnetic field then it experiences a force .

Electron was discovered by sir. J.J. Thomson and value of charge on electron was measured by sir.  ROBART A. MILIKAN by OIL DROP EXPERIMENT.

Basically , charge are two types .

  1. Positive charge (+)
  2. Negetive charge (-)

When , two positive charge , or two negetive charge come in field of each other then it will show repulsive force effect . But when Positive charge , negetive charge come in field of each other then it will show attractive force effect .

PROPERTIES OF CHARGE

Some properties of charge .

1. Electric charge is a scalar quantity

2. Charge measured by number of election in matter.
When an electron is ejected from an object, the object becomes positively charged.  When an electron is given in an object, the negative charge is charged.
 3. It can transfer one matter to another matter.
 If an un-charged object is placed in contact with a charged object, the transfer of electron from one object to another will cause it to be charged in the un-charged object.

4. Charge is quantized.

The amount of charge on a charged object is always equal to the full digit multiplier of the original unit of charge.

                             Q = ne

        Where , n = ±1 , ±2 , ±3 ........
                       e = 1.60× 10-19 coulombs

5. Charge is related with mass .
The existence of charge is not always possible without mass.  While the existence of mass is possible without charge
6. Charge always conservative.

 Total charge in a deferred body remains constant
 We can say that the algebraic sum of positive charge and negative charge in the separated body would be zero.

7.  Charge is always constant.

Charge does not depend on the frame of reference, meaning the change in velocity of the object does not change the charge

8. The same charge repulsed each other and the different charge attracted each other.
